Radio review – Lux – “Rope of Sand” (1955) **

Some guy called Barry Sullivan takes over Burt Lancaster’s screen role as an adventurer who winds up in South Africa having shenanigans involving diamonds. It comes across as a knock off of Casablanca and the setting really could have been Mozambique or Ghana or Cambodia for all the use they really make of it – it’s just your typical Hollywood third world backlot. Of main interest to hear Sullivan – a not very well known tough guy of the 50s.
