Movie review - "King of the Coral Sea" (1954) **
An adequate adventure film whose main attraction is its location photography. The story lacks excitement, and Lee Robinson’s inexperience handling drama is evident, but it is agreeable enough, with a genuine exotic flavour and an attractive lead couple in Charles Tingwell and Ilma Adey. Rod Taylor is very comfortable as the macho, two-fisted Jack Janeiro, although his part is not really necessary in the story: everything his character in the film does could have easily been done by Chips Rafferty or Tingwell’s character.
