A made for TV account of the then-fairtale romance which holds up surprisingly well: the scenery is pleasant, the acting fine, and the film does deal with some political matters around the wedding, such as the assassination of Lord Mountbatten and the need to produce a royal heir. Some scenes have unexpected resonance today, such as the ceaseless pursuit of Diana by the paparazzi, and a scene between Diana and her fiancee’s best friends, Andrew and Camilla Parker-Bowles.
