Dorothy Malone
Came across this interesting interview on the net with Dorothy Malone. Always had a soft spot for Malone since I saw her in Written on the Wind. A stunning, stunning girl, she specialised in sexually aggressive females: pretty much everything I’ve seen her in she was on the make for some guy, including Written on the Wind, The Big Sleep (a lovely little scene), Battle Cry, her unbilled cameo in Fate is the Hunter. Of course there are exceptions, such as Beach Party and the Fast and the Furious. She never quite became a star, despite being in some popular films – maybe 50s audiences/executives liked their women stars to come across as dumber (Monroe) or classier (Hepburn). But she lasted a long time and it was terrific to see her pop up in Basic Instinct.
