Movie review - "A Gathering of Eagles" (1963) **
An interesting period piece about SAC in peacetime in the vein of Twelve O'Clock High. Although the film really should be about Rod Taylor’s character learning responsibility, far more time is spent on obsessive Rock Hudson and the effect his job is having on his marriage. And while Hudson and the men of SAC clearly work hard, it is difficult to be too sympathetic considering what the job is - whether an SAC commander does a good job or a bad job, either way it is not going to be good news for the audience.
