Book review - "Role Models" by John Waters (2010)

A very funny top quality collection of essays from Waters that benefits from being personal. He writes with great insight and wit about such people as Johnny Mathis, Leslie Van Houton, Tennessee Williams (he likes the later plays more) and Patty McCormack but also more obscure types like the gay porn director who made movies out of having sex with straight Marines, a burlesque performer called Zorro. Usually funny, surprisingly insightful and moving.
