Highly enjoyable version of the famous movie, perfect for radio because it’s basically a two-hander. Madeleine Carroll is a strong substitute for Gene Tierney as the spirited widowed mother who falls for a ghost – played here by Charles Boyer! It threw me for a second, but why not have a French captain? He’s still passionate and grizzly and all that. A touching story, even though if the ghost really loved Mrs Muir why not visit her after she's broken up with the two-timing children's author?
