Movie review - "Panic in the Streets" (1951) **1/2
Chase movie about gangsters infected with plague in New Orleans. It benefits from location shooting and some wonderful "faces", including Zero Mostel and Jack Palance. Paul Douglas and Richard Widmark are on the case; Widmark is a health official who's always going on about how he doesn't earn enough money (He was a decent actor, Widmark, but a bit bland when playing a nice guy - his character needed a bit more of an angle). Elia Kazan directed, so there are lots of scenes of men shouting at one another.
