Glenn Ford
Glenn Ford is dead, which may surprise many to hear he was still alive. Ford was a capable actor for his career, who bizzarely was number one box office star in 1958. He was at his peak in the 50s, when he was under contract to MGM and his kindly yet conservative persona fitted the Eisenhower era. A typical Ford character would be a war veteran who is a married man living in the suburbs who comes under some sort of turmoil - like he did in The Big Heat. One would think Ford would have been a nice modest star but during his hey day he could be as big headed as they come, insisting on his make up man and arriving on sets late - I read reports as such during the making of Fate is the Hunter in 1964. He also refused to shake the hand of Doug McLelland at the 1973 Logies (where Ford was guest presented) - because McLelland supported an Australian film industry.
