Bob Evans
The NY Times ran a fun article on Robert Evans who is still plugging away at 70 odd years. It doesn't quite pinpoint why he's still so beloved: the guy is cool. Retro chic, what you will - but in modern Hollywood with its MBAs and Scientologists, Evans is a glorious throwback to an earlier hedonistic age: all the cocaine and prostitutes and a beautiful actress wife and legions of famous lovers (including Grace Kelly and Lois Chiles) and also producer of some striking credits as well as being a head of studio whom people remember. Evans perpetrated his legend with his book and the movie made from it - but also the memoirs of Joe Eszterhas and Phil Noyce. I mean, who wouldn't want to work with Bob Evans, even if only for a bit? It would be worth it for the stories alone. And his credits post 1991 comeback aren't bad - it seems he does little hands on producing but he obviously still has an eye for a "property".
