Book review - "My Movie Business" by John Irvin

A book only really of interest to fans of Irving and the book/film The Cider House Rules. Irving is a good writer, and the book only short, but his displays a bewildering inability to come up with a decent showbiz anecdote. Instead we get a lot of stuff about streamlining narrative and changing characters around which is interesting... but how about a bit more saliciousness? He is also a bit of a whinger - despite having director approval, cast approval, script approval... he still complains he doesn't have approval over marketing. And when his son isn't cast in a lead role. Its filmmaking John!!
