Book review – “Backstory 5” Ed Patrick McGilligan

An interesting collection of interviews, but probably the weakest in the series so far, mainly because it includes too many writers turned directors (Albert Brooks, John Hughes, Nora Ephron, John Sayles, Barry Levinson), thus their careers have already achieved decent PR - Backstory was all about shining a light on people who hadn't received enough notice. Also a lot of the interviews aren't as thorough. I found the most interesting interviews were with people who aren't that well known: Jean Claude Carrier, Ronald Harwood, Barbara Turner, Rudy Wurlitzer.
