He's still got it! Later period Williamsons can be rough to get through but this was an excellent play. He's not always good out of his comfort zone, but he has a story, its about men in competition and he can blow the dust of his engineering degree... the disputes between bitchy scientists isn't too far from the antics of The Department. There's only one female character but she has meat on her bones - yes she says "why are you never home" to her husband but also offers a point of view about religion.
Newton is a great character, irascible and brilliant, possibly mad, there's a fun cameo from Charles II and people like Pepys and Wren. Robert Hooke is a memorable antagonist - I actually thought maybe more could have been done with him.
It's smart. It has a point. It's really good.
