Movie review - "Wild on the Beach" (1965) *

Surf Party made enough money for Bob Lippert and Fox to finance a second beach party film. It's also in black and white by the sea... only hardly any action takes place in the water or beach. Indeed I don't think anyone wears swim suits!

The basic set up isn't bad - a male and female sorority find out they both have to stay in the one house. That's a decent enough idea for a bunch of cute male-female clashes leading to songs. But then matters drag off into boring, pointless comedy and strained musical acts. Actually to be fair some of the music is okay - there's The Astronauts but also Sonny and Cher, just before "I Got You Babe". I really wish they'd played the leads.

Sherry Jackson and Frankie Randall are okay as the leads - they lack a little energy. There's no color, no oomph. Booth Colman adds some class. There's a scene were a middle aged man sings a song.

Ah this is lame.
