A big broad silly movie that works on its own terms. Unlike too many DC films it has a real vision - James Wan wants to pack it with cool stuff, so there's huge underwater civilisations and battles and soldiers riding sharks.
The script borrows well from the 1978 Superman and deals with the difficult DC timeline. The support cast is very strong - Patrick Wilson is a decent villain and Amber Heard suits the superhero world. Its lots of fun watching Nicole Kidman spear people with a trident though the CGI kung fu wasn't very convincing. Jason Mamosa has plenty of swagger. I wish he'd given his kingdom to Amber Heard at the end though.
