Movie review - "Kokoda Front Line" (1942) ****
A deservedly famous newsreel, which won an Oscar and helped turn Damien Parer into a legend. He introduces it - producer Ken G. Hall knew the value of the star system, and in the absence of on screen names (it was a documentary after all), he put forward the camera man. Parer talks about the battles faced by our boys over in the jungle then we see some gripping footage of various battles there. Extremely well shot, edited and generally put together, it remains an impressive movie. (Though maybe I've seen it too many times and it's been replaced in my affections by Men of Timor and Bismarck Convoy Smashed).
