Robert Menzies isn't particularly well remembered as a war leader but he did get this documentary about his trip to Aussie trips in the Middle East (this was before Japan declared war against the British Empire). It's a bit of a suck job to Menzies, with the narrator talking about criticism of him being unjustified, and not particularly well put together - it lacks the inherent excitement of later Cinesound newsreels like Bismark Convoy Smashed because it doesn't center around a military action, just a Prime Ministerial visit. It is interesting to see vision of Menzies doing war time Prime Minster stuff, and of our troops over there. Damien Parer shot some of this, apparently.
