Movie review - "Apollo 18" (2011) **1/2

Not a critical fave to judge by reaction on the internet but not too shabby - maybe people were annoyed by the hype. The execution isn't up to the idea but the idea is terrific. Some of it clunks e.g. opening BBQ scene, the astronauts talking to camera - it doesn't feel real when reality is what it should feel like. But it looks great with all that stock footage and once it's on the moon it's fine. I think it just needed a greater sense of reality and better character work. Still has spooky atmosphere and all that.
