Movie review - Bergman#7 - "Thirst" (1949) ***

An early Ingmar Bergman film has his talent stamped all over it -  a couple travelling through Europe flashback to their separate affairs, and another woman has an abusive relationship with her doctor and is tempted into a lesbian fling. There's more to it than that of course - although the movie might have been more effective had it concentrated on one of the stories.

The story of the widowed woman has the more power, mostly because of her relationship with the psychiatrist who seeks to control her. It's handled with some vigour and strong acting, especially from the women (the men seem a little wet - but then they have silly moustaches to wear).
