Greer Garson is dreadful stepping in for Kate Hepburn. She acts the part in haughty Acting style – she’s like a pretentious amateur theatre grand dame, rather than a spinster who’s spent years in the Congo. Fortunately Bogart is on hand to reprise his screen role and the basic story is still very strong. I enjoyed it; also I do admit that Garson had a few good moments, mostly when she forgot to act and just relaxed a bit. A copy of the script is
here.
