Movie review - "Domino" (2019) **

 Brian De Palma's last feature film to date starts off as a McBain movie set in Copenhagen. Nikloaj Coster-Waldau is McBain, basically, whose partner is killed so he goes looking for payback. Carice Van Houten is from internal affairs. Oh and her real life partner Guy Pearce pops up.

Film buffs will enjoy the occasional De Palma bursts of flair and nods to other movies like the rooftops in Vertigo. There's some interesting ideas like the killer of the partner being an ex terrorist who is blackmailed into helping it from Guy Pearce, so he's got this sympathetic dimension. and Van Houten being pregnant with the partner's kid. These aren't developed.  

The leads should be the characters played by Eriq Ebouaney and Mohammed Azaay.

Movie review - "One of Those Things" (1971) ***

 Danish cinema goes for the international market but instead of horror or action they do a thriller (cheap I guess) and instead of real stars there's Roy Dotrice, Judy Geeson and Zena Walker. Who are all really good I've got to say - so is the cast. And the direction and writing.

This was a surprise. I was expecting a middle aged perv movie and it's a bit of that - Dotrice gets to do it with Geeson - but at least she's manipulating and blackmailing him. Looks quite good even though the Danish locations aren't exploited. I think they were hiding them.

Movie review - "Reptilicus" (1961) **

Very junky but an impossible film to dislike - I mean a Danish film about a killer reptile. Who couldn't love it? Danish miners (I had no idea there were such things but there you go) dig up the creature, it gets taken to Cophenhagen, awakes and goes on a rampage.

Lots of fun things - Danish actors speaking slowly, all the Danes on bikes, Reptilicus running riot through various Copenhagen landmarks (my favourites: the attack at the beach and where the extras run off the draw bridge), scientists and the military squabbling. It's in colour so the locations are used to good advantage.
